WHO'S ASKING - AND WHY IT'S NOT A COMPANY
ONE OF US
I have been a Browns fan for more than forty years.
Here is the part people find strange. I grew up in New England. I had every excuse to pick a different team, one that wins, one that was right there. I never did. I picked Cleveland and I stayed.
I spent my own money travelling to games I could not really afford, in a city I did not live in, to watch a team run by people who have treated all of us like a renewable resource.
I do not go anymore. I do not give him my money anymore. That is not bitterness. It is the only vote I actually get.
So I made a shirt.
I do not think he is going to move the team. I think he is too far into that stadium. But he will own the building and the land around it either way. He could sell this team tomorrow, keep the real estate, and walk away richer than he started.
I would be delighted.
I am not a company. There is no warehouse and no investors. It is one guy, a shirt, and seventy-eight years of this city keeping its end of a bargain nobody on the other side ever signed.
If you have read this far, you are not a customer. You are the other half of this. Same city, same seventy-eight years, same bill coming due. I am not asking you to follow me anywhere. I am standing where you are already standing.
